Newfound Gap Road Travel Problems The Great Smoky Mountains are busy after reopening post-Helene. But Newfound Gap Road travel problems linger. Newfound Gap Road was closed for several days. Then reopened to traffic but problems arose. Big rigs were using the road to get through the mountains. Problems ensued big time. The narrow winding steep roads were no match for many trucks. To prevent big rigs from using Newfound Gap Road (441) through the Great Smoky Mountains, the park service is now monitoring every entrance into the National Park. Dollywood Grows With New Wildwood Grove For 2019   Dollywood is growing. Wildwood Grove is a new addition to Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge. Dolly Parton was at Celebrity Theatre in Dollywood today to announce the news. The new expansion cost $37 million. Chimney Tops Trail Project Update

Chimney Tops Trail will remain closed Monday through Thursday until December of this year. The popular trail is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays now. The trail has been undergoing rehabilitation by workers and volunteers for about 3 years, but recent rains have caused damage that has set the project back. Improvements to the Chimney Rocks Trail include placement of stone step making the trail easier to navigate.
