Dollywood 2017 Season Open Now With New Rides And More
The Dollywood 2017 season has opened with new rides, new eats and more fun than ever. Dollywood theme park is located in Pigeon Forge, TN. New for this year are three more rides:The Drop Line, Whistle Punk Chaser and Tail Spin Racer. The Drop Line carries you 200 feet up in the air then suddenly drops back to the ground. This new ride is sure to raise your hair! Another new ride for this year is just for the kids! It’s a coaster just right for them. The ride is just their size so they don’t miss out on the fun of an exciting roller coaster ride cause they’re too short! And over at Splash Country when it opens this summer there is the new water ride the Tail Spin Racer.
Dollywood has a new restaurant this year! The Front Porch Cafe will offer a full service menu. Aunt Granny’s All-You-Care-To-Eat Buffet is a tradition with more food than ever. Other favorite places to eat are Red’s Diner, Miss Lillian’s Smokehouse and Fried Chicken and Granny Ogle’s Ham n’ Beans. Plus there are all the sweets and bakeries, ice cream, funnel cakes, lemonade and more!
Along with all the normal shows, rides and entertainment Dollywood Theme Park offers several festivals through out the year. The first is the Festival of Nations from March 18-April 9; Barbeque and Bluegrass is May 26-June 4; celebrate fall at the Harvest Festival Sept. 29-Oct 28; and my favorite is the Smoky Mountain Christmas from Nov. 4-Jan. 1, 2018.
Currently at Dollywood is the Festival of Nations. Its a one of a kind glimpse into the colorful and entertaining cultures of other nations. Festival of Nations will last until April 9th. Just some of the entertainment for this interesting festival include Mother Africa, Slask from Poland, Dearbhail Finneganand and Robin Slater from Ireland, from Trinidad and Tobago are the Invaders Steel Orchestra, Atahualpa from Ecuador, and Streichmusik Alder from Switzerland.
Along with these Festival of Nations performers the theme park still has Dollywood’s own The Kingdom Heirs, Heartsong Theater and Wings of America.
Dolly’s Homecoming Parade takes place on Friday evening May 5, 2017 at 6:00PM. As always Dolly Parton as the grand marshal is there along with marching bands, floats, dancers, clowns, jugglers and all kinds of entertainers. This will be the 32nd year for the parade. The route is on the parkway smack in the middle of Pigeon Forge.
A trip to the Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountains National Park region will also offer many other fun opportunities. The area has so much to do from shopping, dining, shows, music and concerts, car shows, hiking and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Now that winter is over and it’s officially spring make sure to plan a visit to East Tennessee! There is always something going on in Pigeon Forge!
