Dollywood Eagle Nest Live Cam Hatchling
Dollywood may not be open but the park has a new attraction currently. The Dollywood eagle nest live cam has an eaglet to watch. Two eagles of the eagle enclosure in the Village Craftman’s section of Dollywood are proud parents! And it’s all been caught on a live webcam!
Proud eagle momma Glenda is sitting on a second egg that can hatch any time now. Grant and Glenda are two disabled and non-releasable bald eagles that live at the American Eagle Foundation inside of Dollywood. One of two eggs in the nest has already hatched out. The second egg is still intact with Glenda sitting on it. And you can watch live at Dollywood Bald Eagle Nest Cam.
Glenda was rescued in 2012 from Spokane, Washington. After receiving care and being rehabbed at the Washington State University’s Veterinary Hospital raptor program Glenda was then turned over to the American Eagle Foundation. Glenda arrived at Dollywood in April of 2014. Her mate, Grant had been treated at the Wildlife Center of Virginia for a fractured bone. He is permanently disabled due to a problem with his wrist. He was transferred to the American Eagle Foundation in July 2009. Grant is an adult Bald Eagle but he is smaller than his mate Glenda.
Eagle Lays Two Eggs in March
Glenda laid her first of two eggs on March 4, 2020. She laid her second egg on March 7, 2020. On April 11 the first pip was noticed at 8:17 am. After a lot of hard work, the new eaglet hatched completely the next day at 11:18 am on April 12! As of April 19, the second egg is still intact and Glenda continues to sit on it. Glenda protects the egg and her new eaglet by continuing to sit on her nest. I watched on the Dollywood eagle nest live cam webcam as Grant sat on the edge of the nest keeping a close watch on Mom and eaglet. I even saw Grant feed the new eaglet! It was so cute to watch!
Many are expecting the second egg, that was laid just 3 days after the first egg in March, to hatch any time now. Since the eaglet hatched on April 12, the second egg should be hatching soon if all is well.
It is so much fun to watch these Bald Eagles on the Dollywood eagle nest live cam set up by the American Eagle Foundation. The Eagle Mountain Sanctuary is located in Craftsmen’s Valley in Dollywood Theme Park. Dollywood is located in Pigeon Forge, TN. Dollywood is currently closed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
