Sparks Lane Closure In Cades Cove Temporarily
For those headed to Cades Cove to view the fall foliage the park service is closing Sparks Lane for two weeks. Starting on Monday 10/29/18 until 11/12/18 Sparks Lane will be closed to ALL TRAFFIC. This is so repairs to a low-water crossing can be done across Sea Branch. The repairs require the use of heavy machinery and equipment. The current concrete structure will be removed and a new low-water crossing and approach ramps will be rebuilt. The closure on Sparks Lane for the next 2 weeks include motorist as well as cyclists and pedestrians.
Cades Cove Loop road will not be affected during the closure of Sparks Lane.
If you enter Cades Cove by Laurel Creek Rd then Sparks Lane is the first shortcut left hand turn just before reaching John Oliver Place parking area. Sea Branch creek crosses Sparks Lane just before you would get back onto Cades Cove Loop Rd heading back to the Cades Cove Campgrounds. Cades Cove Loop road will not be affected during the closure of Sparks Lane. This is a popular and busy time of year for Cades Cove due to the fall foliage season. One of the last areas in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to peak is the lower elevations of Cades Cove.
